President Hassan Rouhani in a message on Thursday condoled Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei, religious dignitaries, seminarians and theologians on the passing away of Ayatollah Hajj Sheikh Mohammad-Mehdi Asefi.
Also condoling the bereaved family of Ayatollah Asefi on the occasion, President Rouhani said he had deeply saddened for the tragic event.
'Undoubtedly, the invaluable services and campaigns of the scientist for the sake of Islam and his relentless campaign against Iraqi Saddam Baathist regime will remain in history of Iraqi nation.'
The president also wished divine blessing for the late Ayatollah.
Foreign Minister Mohammad-Javad Zarif also issued similar message on the occasion.
